Established in 2000 by Mary Patrick Ralph. Mary was born 1916 in Cayuga, Indiana to William H. and Louise F. Belser Patrick. She spent her girlhood on the family farm, the eldest of four children. Upon graduation from Indiana Central University she became an elementary school teacher in her home town. While teaching, she met Earl J. Ralph, a civil engineer for the State of. Illinois. Like the rest of their generation, they were caught up in World War II and Earl was commissioned into the Navy. They were married in Chula Vista, California on November 14, 1942. While Earl was deployed to the Pacific during the war, Mary served as a Red Cross nurse’s aide in San Diego Mary and Earl traveled the world together during his careers as a naval officer and civil service engineer. They lived in Japan, Guam, Hawaii and throughout the United States while raising and caring for their two daughters. Wherever she found herself, Mary was an active volunteer and community leader, and in Camarillo, she enjoyed volunteering for the Leisure Village Women’s Club and the St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary Projects Group. Mary passed away in 2008.
