Established in 2017 by Captain W. Lee Tuthill, CEC, USN (Ret) in memory of his devoted mother. Mary Tuthill was born in Sewaren, NJ and moved to the Eastern end of Long Island, NY, during the depression when her father became a potato farmer. Following one year at Wilson College, she married Preston Tuthill and became the bookkeeper and accountant for her husband’s heating and plumbing business, a total of forty-eight years. Mary tutored Latin to her in-laws, and was very active in community activities serving as President of the Cutchogue Historical Society, vestry member in the local Episcopal church and as a volunteer at the Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Endowed Scholarships allow our investors to build a lasting legacy, impacting Seabee children and grandchildren for generations to come. Endowed Scholarships often honor or memorialize family members, Seabee leaders, NAVFAC units, organizations or corporations. Perpetual Named scholarships can be funded at three levels, $60,000, $120,000 and $150,000 and are named by the donor.
