Established in 2011 by Walter Boll to celebrate his Navy career and honor his father-in-law Leo Bock. Walter joined the Seabees in 1946 and served on active duty until 1950. He served for an additional 16 years in the Naval Reserves. Using the GI Bill, he attended Hofstra College and received a degree in biology and Geology and went on to have a 26-year career in teaching. Walter passed away in 2019. In addition to this scholarship, Walter remembered the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (Now the Navy Seabee Foundation) in his estate with a generous bequest.
