Kathy was born in Cambridge, MA on May 13, 1944, the third of eight children and the oldest of four girls.  After graduating from Emanuel College in Boston in 1965 with a degree in English, she began her teaching career.  Upon Bill’s return from Vietnam, they were married on December 30, 1967 in Cambridge.  After Bill’s discharge from the Navy in 1970, they moved to Denver, CO, where Bill grew up, and they raised their four sons.  After raising four sons, she was blessed with five granddaughters and two grandsons.

In 1975 she received her Master’s Degree in Library Media Science from the University of Colorado.  She returned to teaching as a substitute and then school librarian, retiring in 2003 as the head librarian at East High School.  She continued to sub for several years and really enjoyed working with the hearing impaired students.  During three summers after retirement as a part of the Bridges for Education Program, she taught English in Timișoara, Romania; Zhangzhou, China; and Fethiye, Turkey and brought home many stories of the students and their countries.

Although she missed her ocean and Cape Cod, she fell in love with the mountains. She enjoyed skiing, hiking, camping and then at her mountain home (Cape Cod West) in Breckenridge, CO.  She loved to travel and was able to get to many areas around the globe.  Two of her favorite trips were to Bogota, Columbia and Costa Rica where they met the children and families they sponsored through Unbound.

In November 2018, she had a massive allergic reaction to the blood pressure medication that she had been on for over 10 years.  This resulted in heart and lung problems that she made great efforts to overcome.  While taking a nap, she passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2020.

In loving memory of Kathleen:

Loving – Caring – Sharing – Patient

Devoted wife, mother, nana, teacher and friend.

Her gentleness, kindness and spirit will remain with us forever

She will be forever missed but never forgotten!
