Master Chief Marion joined the Navy in Nov 1963 after completing apprenticeship with the Intl. Union of Operating Engineers He served in many units and many places, including:
NMCB 3 deployed to Guam & Yap Island
STAT 0306 deployed to Thailand and Chu Lai RVN
Naval Support Activity Danang RVN, NMCB3 deployed to Puerto Rico & Deigo Garcia NMCB 5, Headquarters Support Activity Taiwan, where he helped close the American Embassy & Military facilities
CBMU 405 San Diego
NMCB 4 where he retired as Command Master Chief in 1984.
After he retired from the Navy, he worked with Hawthorne Caterpillar, retiring as Corporate Purchasing Manager in 2023.
Clyde served as a Seabee Historical Foundation Board member for 8 years and has remained a generous supporter of the Navy Seabee Foundation.
Endowed Scholarships allow our investors to build a lasting legacy, impacting Seabee children and grandchildren for generations to come. Endowed Scholarships often honor or memorialize family members, Seabee leaders, NAVFAC units, organizations or corporations. Perpetual Named scholarships can be funded at three levels, $60,000, $120,000 and $150,000 and are named by the donor.
