The Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (SMSA) welcomed three new board members: Barbara Rusinko, Bechtel president of Nuclear, Security & Environmental; Robert Johnson, Hannon Armstrong senior vice president; and FORCM(SCW/EXW) Percy Trent USN (Ret.) Universal Creative program manager. They join their fellow Board members in their commitment to providing need-based scholarships to the children and grandchildren of America’s fighting Seabees and Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) officers attending accredited colleges and universities.
“We are pleased to welcome three strong new members to our dynamic team,” said SMSA Board Chairman Mike Blount, senior vice president, AECOM. “Their diverse skill sets, corporate and community networks and commitment to Seabees and educating the future make them ideal candidates to help drive and deliver our mission.”
Barbara Rusinko is president of Bechtel Nuclear, Security & Environmental, Inc. She also serves on the BGI board of directors. In her 30 years at Bechtel, she’s held a variety of leadership and operations roles. She’s supported a range of commercial nuclear power projects, served as chief engineer for Bechtel’s government services company overseeing the performance of 700 engineers and designers, and has held senior engineering management and senior project manager roles on projects around the world. Her commitment to the Seabee community is sparked by her father, Michael J. Baccellieri, who served with the 50th Seabees in WWII.
Robert Johnson has been at the leading edge of the behind-the-meter industry, where he has built businesses across a broad range of power systems and services. As senior vice president at Hannon Armstrong, a leading investor in climate change solutions, he’s responsible for growing their investments with major clients whose customers are in the public sector, including the federal, state & local, higher-education, and healthcare market segments or in the commercial industrial segments. During his career, Mr. Johnson has led the development of over $400 million behind the-meter projects and nearly $2 billion of investments.
Command Master Chief (SCW/EXW) Percy Trent, Jr.(Ret.) is a program manager at Universal Creative in Orlando, Fla. He is also a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and Expeditionary Warfare Specialist. Joining the U.S. Navy in 1989, he has served in a variety of roles during his distinguished career; completed several deployments (Ali Al Salem, Kuwait; Okinawa, Japan; Balad, Iraq; Rota, Spain and Afghanistan); and graduated from the Naval Training Center (NTC), Builder “A” School, and the Senior Enlisted Academy. He has served as the Command Master Chief for Naval Base Ventura County and was selected the 17th force master chief of the Seabees.
