U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion TEN Memorial

Located adjacent to the historic “Grinder” on board Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme, this memorial honors the legacy of U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion TEN (NMCB 10).

Commissioned on October 15, 1943, NMCB 10 faithfully served the Navy and the nation until its decommissioning on June 30, 1976. This proud battalion earned multiple accolades during its years of service, including four Navy Unit Commendations (1965-1968) and three Best of Type Awards (1967, 1969, 1973).

NMCB 10 also played a significant role in the Republic of Vietnam, supporting operations at Chu Lai, Danang, Quang Tri, Hue, and Phu Bai from 1965 through 1970.

This plaque stands as a lasting tribute to the Seabees of NMCB 10—those who lived by the “Can Do” spirit, building and fighting wherever duty called.
