Seabee Memorial in Guam

Located on Naval Base Guam, this monument commemorates the Seabees of the Fifth Naval Construction Brigade for their courageous, tireless, and immediate efforts in constructing the original Naval Operating Base (NOB) during and after the liberation of Guam until February 1946. The base soon gained the nickname “The Pacific Supermarket” for providing vital replenishments for WWII operational units fighting in the Pacific. During this time, the Seabees also restored Orote Airfield, constructed major harbor facilities, and established and surfaced nearly 100 miles of roads, including Guam’s main highway Marine Corps Drive.
