LTJG Francis (Frankie) Toner Memorial Bridge

LTJG Toner, from Narragansett, R.I., was killed March 27, 2009 by small arms fire from an Afghan National Army soldier while he was conducting physical training. He was assigned as the garrison engineer for the Afghanistan Regional Security Integration Command North. The bridge connects Coasters Harbor Island with Coddington Point at Naval Station Newport.
