U.S. Navy Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit THREE ZERO ONE Memorial
Situated alongside the historic “Grinder” on Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme, this memorial honors the service and contributions of Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 301 (CBMU-301).
Commissioned on April 7, 1967, CBMU-301 served with distinction through October 30, 1970. The battalion earned Navy Unit Commendations in both 1967 and 1969 in recognition of its outstanding performance and dedication.
During the Vietnam War, CBMU-301 supported U.S. Navy and Marine Corps operations across multiple locations in the Republic of Vietnam, including Camp Shields (Dong Ha), Camp Adams (Quang Tri), and Camp Wall (Chu Lai). These deployments spanned from July 1967 through September 1970, underscoring the unit’s vital role in sustaining and maintaining essential infrastructure in support of combat operations.
This monument stands in tribute to the men of CBMU-301 and their enduring contributions to the Seabee legacy of “Can Do.”
