Bolles Field Memorial – Port Hueneme, CA

Located at the corner of 12th Avenue and Addor Street, in front of the baseball field, Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Port Hueneme

This memorial honors Captain Harry A. Bolles, Civil Engineer Corps, United States Navy, a distinguished member of the Navy community whose legacy extends beyond his military service. Captain Bolles was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1923, a member of the Navy varsity football team, and a member of the 1921 U.S. Olympic crew team.

On July 18, 1943, while serving in Alaska, Captain Bolles was killed in an airplane crash near Adak. His dedication to duty and service is remembered through the naming of Bolles Field in his honor.

Located in front of the base’s baseball field, this marker stands as a quiet tribute to a leader whose life exemplified the Seabee ethos of strength, service, and sacrifice — both on the field of competition and in service to his country.
