MILLBURY – Roland D. Lajoie, 99, of Millbury, died Saturday, November 2, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

His wife of 61 years, Lucille Rose (Loiselle) Lajoie, died in 2012.  He leaves two sons, Marc R. Lajoie and his wife Kathryn A. (Langley) Lajoie of Spencer, and Gregory J. Lajoie of Millbury; a brother, Normand Lajoie of Winter Haven, FL; three grandchildren: Lianne A. Barr and her husband Alan of Hampden, MA, Robin L. Lesley and her husband Robert of Sutton, and Daniel M. Lajoie of Spencer; four great-grandchildren, Jackson R. Lesley, James P. Lesley, Lucy A. Barr and Samuel P. Barr; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Paul and Gerald Lajoie and a sister, Madeleine Marchand.  He was born in Worcester, son of Origene and Octavie (Boisvert) Lajoie.  He graduated from the former Worcester Boys Trade School.

Roland was a precision machine technician at the Heald Machine Division of Cincinnati Milacron.  He was a proud World War II Navy veteran.  He was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Parish, Millbury.  After his retirement, he was a volunteer van driver for the Millbury Senior Center. He also worked as a building services technician at St Vincent Hospital and as a funeral assistant at many local funeral homes.  He enjoyed stamp collecting and genealogical research. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

His funeral Mass will be Thursday November 7, 2024 at 11:30 am in the Catholic Church of St. Brigid, 59 Main St.  Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.  Calling hours at St. Brigid prior to the Mass will be Thursday November 7, from 10:15 to 11:15 am.  Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
