Ennis Resident Philip Craig Wood went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2024. He was 61.
Philip was born on August 30, 1962, in Dallas Texas. He was the youngest child of Billy Ray Wood and Yvonne Priscilla Gray Wood. He graduated from Ennis High School, class of 1980 and from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Philip was a real estate investor and appraiser in the North Texas area for over 20 years. He was a veteran of over 25 years with the US Navy Reserve Seabees and served with NMCB 22. He served various tours of duty to Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and Kuwait. After honorably serving his
country and having impacted the careers and lives of many Sailors and Marines, he retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Philip was a Believer in Jesus Christ and a member of First Baptist Dallas. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed time with family and friends and could often be found shaking dominoes for a game of 42. He also actively supported “Holidays for Heroes,” an organization that
supports military families during the holidays.
He is survived by a sister, Sondra Bennett of Ennis, her husband Gary Bennett, a brother, Mark Wood of Ennis, his wife Erin Wood, nephews Matthew Bennett, Jacob Bennett, and Mark Isaac Wood, and a great-niece Everleigh Bennett.
Philip was a beloved son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.

A Chapel Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, Texas.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
