WATERBURY – Wayne Eden Morrison, age 63, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Wayne was born March 3, 1960, in Waterbury, the son of the late Cuthbert A. and Ethel J. (Watkins) Morrison. He graduated from Wilby High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as an electrician/sonar technician.

He remained with the U.S. Navy as well as the Navy Reserves for 28 years, serving several tours of duty during the Desert Storm conflict. Upon retiring from the Navy, Wayne spent several years living in Virginia before settling back in the Waterbury area, and spent several years working for Altek Electronics in its mechanical division.

Wayne loved to listen to jazz music and was extremely close to his nieces and nephews, who were like his own children to him. Wayne was exceptional in almost every way, but he excelled the most at being a devoted brother and uncle.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his siblings, Stanley Morrison of Bethel, Dennis, Brian, Brett Morrison, Melba Johnson, Victorine Morrison, and Saundra Collins, all of Waterbury. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Morrison will be on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at 10 a.m., at Refuge Church of Christ, 15 Hawkins St., Waterbury. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be on Saturday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m.
