Gary Lee Hoisington, 70, of Belding, passed away on March 13, 2025, at Mission Point in Belding. Gary was born on September 12, 1954, in Sheridan, the son of Nelson and Lucille (Calkins) Hoisington.

Graduating from Greenville High School with the class of 1973, Gary immediately enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country. He proudly served for over 20 years before retiring. On October 11, 1979, Gary married the love of his life, Elizabeth, and together they enjoyed almost 26 years of marriage before her death in 2005. Ever the outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in nature. He loved being outside so much he decided to start cutting wood for a living and became a lumberjack! He was active with the local Belding VFW and American Legion and served on their joint Honor Guard to honor his fallen comrades. Gary was a kind a gentle person who always had a smile on his face, he will be missed greatly.

Surviving Gary are his son; Jason Hoisington (Beth Jewell) of Belding, his mother; Lucille Hoisington of Belding, his siblings; Dave (Jan) Hoisington of Fenwick, Steve Hoisington of Greenville, Jim (Patty) Hoisington of Sheridan, Andy (Wanda) Hoisington of Belding, several nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and his father Nelson.

A time to celebrate Gary’s life will be on March 26th from 4pm-6pm at the Belding VFW. Gary will be laid to rest next to his wife at Otisco Township Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the staff at Mission Point in Belding for the remarkable care and compassion they showed to Gary, especially Katie and David, your kindness will always be remembered.
