Danny Gene Easterling, 72, of Solana Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Eastern NM Medical Center in Roswell, NM. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Prell of Blodgett Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section) with Military Honors provided by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Thursday at West Funeral Home.
Danny Gene Easterling was born to Doyce and Modean (Tidrow) Easterling on May 10, 1946 in Breckenridge, TX. He moved to Carlsbad, NM when he was in the first grade. After graduating from high school he served active duty in the US Air Force and then became a SeaBee in the US Navy Reserves for a total of 20 years of military service.
Danny and Virginia “Ginny” (Spencer) Easterling were married on May 20, 1966 in Carlsbad. After serving four years in the US Air Force they made their home in Carlsbad where Danny was employed by Jackson Plumbing for 21 years before opening his own plumbing business in 1995.
He was a member of the Baptist faith, Moose Lodge and Eddy County Sheriff’s Posse. In his spare time he enjoyed building model ships, aircraft, cars and trucks, camping, hunting and fishing.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents Doyce and Modean Easterling, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Herbert and Minnie Spencer and Brother-in-law Herbert R. Spencer.
He is survived by his wife Virginia “Ginny”; Daughter Cyndi, her fiancé Kevin and two grandsons Jeremy and Austin of Carlsbad; Son Ronnald “Ron”, his wife Janice and three grandchildren, Anthony, Rebekkah and Danny of Carlsbad; sisters: Katy Callaghan of Magnolia, TX, Christy and her husband Randy Pool of Logan, KS, Pam and her husband Jeff Mohr of Hilham, TN and Kim Easterling of Hilham, TN; Brother-in-Law Phillip and his wife Beverly Spencer of Carlsbad; Sister-in-law Ann Spencer of Artesia, NM and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
