Gerald Eugene Schwaller, age 82, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents: James and Erma Schwaller; his brother: James Schwaller; and his wife of 33 years: Candace (Harris) Schwaller.

Jerry, as he was known to his friends and family, was a Vietnam veteran, a Seabee, proudly serving his country in the US Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 where he served as Commander for 2 years, and was a member of the Moose Lodge spending his time there laughing with his many friends.

Jerry was a retired pipefitter Local 597 with over 30 years of service. Jerry was also a talented drummer in his youth, loved to swim and fish, taking his family on many adventures. He was full of great humor and stories, sharing them with his friends and family, and enjoyed his life to the fullest.

After his wife Candy’s untimely passing Jerry enjoyed a long term companionship with Joannie O’Hare.

Jerry loved music and movies and was an avid White Sox fan, and coached and umpired little league baseball. And in recent years he enjoyed relaxing on his back porch with his beloved dogs and visiting with neighbors. He was always proud upon hearing of his grandchildren’s latest accomplishments.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
