Lynn – Walter Joseph Godlewski, 88, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Charter Senior Living in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lynn on July 4, 1937, and was the beloved son of the late Walter and Alice (Crozman) Godlewski.
Walter was raised in Lynn. After High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy for four years and later continued his service in the Navy Reserves as a Seabee in Vietnam. He went on to build a successful career as a welder, working for GE for many years. A devoted husband and loving father, Walter was a true family man whose presence made every gathering brighter. He was known for his sense of humor and loved to joke, tease, and bring joy to those around him.
Walter had a deep love for the outdoors and the ocean, and he found great pleasure in fishing, boating, swimming, and camping with his family. He cherished these moments spent in nature, often sharing them with loved ones and creating lasting memories. After retiring, Walter enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with his wife and family.
In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Catherine (Andrews) Godlewski and beloved son-in-law, Larry Orlando.
Walter will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving children; Mary Rivard and her husband Paul of Danvers, Ann Mackin and her husband Bill of Moyock, NC, Joseph Godlewski and his wife Jennifer of Sandwich, and Jean Orlando of Berkley. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nicole Craven and her husband Caison of Wilmington, NC, Eric Mackin of Moyock, NC, and Jessica Orlando and Elizabeth Orlando, both of Berkley; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Hattie Mackin and Kennedy and Caden Craven; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129) Lynn. A funeral mass will take place at 12 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St, Lynn. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
