Odess Remington, 72, of Coaldale, was called Home to the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born on Dec. 9, 1952, in Pottsville, Odess graduated from Pottsville High School.

He served our country in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief with the Seabees 21st Construction Battalion.

Odess is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claire; daughters, Natalie James, and spouse, Paul James, and Lindsey, and spouse Aaron; niece, Kirby (Huffman) Fye, and her spouse, Adam; his grandchildren, Logan, Sophia and Ira; great-nieces, Dylan and Briar; his mother, Evelyn Glen; youngest sister, Letha Sauls; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Anna Beadle.

Odess retired from the PP&L Power Station, Berwick, working as a security officer in 2018.

He was a life-long member of the American Legion, served as a Schuylkill County constable, volunteered as assistant coach for multiple youth organizations and enjoyed his time serving The Lord as sexton at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church.

Odess loved riding his motorcycle, especially for charity benefit rides, and spending time with his friends and family, but most of all his grandchildren, who he considered his best friends.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, 217 First St., Coaldale. Burial with military honors will follow the service in St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Summit Hill. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the church.
