Mr. Woodrow W. Gideon Jr.

Date of birth 08/23/1948
Date of passing 08/29/2024

Woodrow W. Gideon Jr. “Woody”, a man of unwavering strength, character, and humor, passed away on August 29, 2024 at the age of 76. Born with a playful spirit and a strong moral compass, he lived a life that was as colorful as it was meaningful.

From his early days as an altar boy, Woody grew into a man who embraced service and dedication. He proudly served his country as a Navy SeaBee, where his strong sense of duty shone brightly. He also had a love for photography, particularly capturing the beauty of architecture and experimenting with special effects.

After his military service, meeting the love of his life and starting a family, Woody decided to pursue a higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin University in 1997. He also had a playful side, being a proud member of a local Jugglers group and local Clown Troop. He volunteered as an usher for 6 years at The OSU football games. He enjoyed bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His knack for making others smile was one of his greatest gifts, and he took every opportunity to spread happiness.

A true family man, Woody cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Kings Island held a special place in his heart, where he enjoyed playing Skee-Ball and delighted in passing out the prizes he won.

His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild was boundless. He taught them the importance of standing up for themselves.

Woody is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; children, Barbi (Tony) and Woody Gideon III; grandchildren, Jessica Beasley (Devon) and Joseph Dobson; great-grandchild, Elias Alexander Cole; brother, Greg Gideon (Jackie); along with many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will take place Friday, September 13th from 11AM-12PM at Schoedinger Northeast (1051 E. Johnstown Rd.). A funeral service will directly follow beginning at 12PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project and/or to the National Kidney Foundation.
