Final Salute

William Harold “Bill” Shepard, 73, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021, at Richland Heart Hospital in Columbia, S.C.

Born on April 24, 1948, in Canandaigua, N.Y., he was predeceased by his parents Harold William Shepard and Madelyn Foote Babcock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Katherine (Bennett); and his two children, Christopher William Shepard (Rebecca) of Seattle, Washington, and daughter, Jennifer Carey Hineman (Scott) of Sumter, S.C.; and two grandsons, Jarett and William.

Bill graduated from Dansville High School in 1967 and joined the Navy Seabees. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

He built his home in York, N.Y., where he lived with his wife and children for 40 years before moving to Sumter, S.C. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, working outside and restoring his 1948 Studebaker truck.
