William’s Obituary On Monday, February 22, 2021, William (Bill) A. Cook, affectionately known to many as “Sweet William”, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, a loving father, grandfather “Cookie”, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 75. Bill was born on October 27, 1945, in Drexel Hill, PA to Margaret Andrew and H. Dale Cook. He was raised in Media, PA where he lived until proudly serving in Vietnam with the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Navy Seabees. Following his service in the military, Bill returned home to Pennsylvania and began working as an electrician, as a member of IBEW Local 654. In 1985 he built his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania that he loved so very much, and in 1987, he had his only daughter, Jacqueline (Anne) Cook Engle. Bill became a grandfather (or Cookie as his grandchildren lovingly call him) in 2016 to Everly, and subsequently to Emilia (2017) and Lucas Engle (2019). Bill lived his life working hard for the Local Union and dedicated to his family. He loved to be with friends and family. Whether it was drinks with friends and family; watching his daughter play sports; cheering on his beloved Buckeyes; teaching his grandkids his funky dance moves and how to show their muscles; watching the deer in his wooded backyard; or fishing in North Carolina, Bill’s presence was always known and appreciated. He was always insanely proud of his daughter and grandkids and even his grand-dog, Bella, and his unwavering love is something they will cherish for a lifetime. Bill took care of those he loved; family and friends alike, he always had a story to tell or an adventure to reminisce about and a hug so tight he left you feeling every ounce of his love. He had an uncanny ability to know somebody or make a friend wherever he went – from his days in Media, time spent at Ohio State with his daughter, or in West Chester where he made his home. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, but certainly never forgotten. Bill is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Cook Engle and son-in-law, Matthew Engle; his grandchildren, Everly, Emilia and Lucas Engle; his brother-in-law and dear friend, Thomas (Butch) Highfield; his brother, Jim Cook; his nephews, Andy Walters (wife, Melanie; sons, AJ and William), and Rob Walters; his nieces Debbie Highfield (Russ), Denise Bonner (Jim), and Marti Haugen (Jim); several other nieces and nephews and tons of life-long friends. Services for Bill are private. Arrangements J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, Media, Pa. Condolences: jnelsonrigbyfh.com To send a flower arrangement or to plant trees in memory of William A.
