Final Salute

Wesley Laverne DeVore, age 59, of Promise City, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Exline, Iowa.

Wesley was born on February 15, 1966 in Missouri, the son of Robert Wesley DeVore and Wortha May (Conn) DeVore. He graduated from Seymour High School. At 17 years old, Wesley joined the United States Navy. He served his country faithfully for 20 years, retiring as an Electrician Technician and a Navy Seabee.

Following the military, Wesley still performed some electrical work on the side. His passion was computers. He loved learning about all the new technology, and even self-taught himself how to do 3D graphic designs.

Left to honor Wesley are his parents, Robert and Wortha DeVore; his brother, Jeremy DeVore; his children, Stephanie DeVore, Christopher DeVore, Rhonda Vance, Roxanne Vance, Mike Vance, and Brandon Vance; his nephew, Sam (Megan) DeVore; as well as several grandchildren and others extended family members and friends.

Wesley was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his brother, Rick DeVore.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 4PM.  Memorials have been established to the family, to be designated to their choosing, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: DeVore Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
