Warren W. Sayward, 98, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. He was the husband of the late Lillian T. (Dansereau) Sayward.
Born in Laconia, N.H., he was a son of the late Everett and Marion (Tipple) Sayward.
Warren was employed as a standards engineer for 42 years with the former Collyer Wire Co. and was a WWII Navy Seabees Veteran, serving in the South Pacific. A resident of Chepachet since 1959, he was very active in the community. He was a member of the Chepachet Union Church for over 60 years serving on the board of deacons. A Mason for over 75 years, he was a member of the Friendship Lodge #7. Warren was active with the Republican Party serving as president of the Town Council and also serving on the board for the Chepachet Fire Department. He was a founding member of the Ponaganset Band Association and was active with the Glocester Senior Center.
He is survived by two sons, Wesley W. Sayward (Ann Glew) and Wayne H. Sayward (Priscilla). He was the grandfather of Jennifer Nappa (Chris), Christina Capobianco (Peter), Michael MacLeod (Jess), Christopher MacLeod, and the late Timothy W. Sayward. He was also the companion of Nancy Hunt and is predeceased by his siblings Barbara Sayward, Clarence Sayward, Gretchen Sayward, Michael Weber, Georgette Weber, William Weber and Albert Sayward Weber.
His service will be held Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at 10 a.m., in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., Greenville. Visiting hours are Sunday, Jan. 9, 5-8 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet.
Face masks and social distancing will be observed at the Mass.
