Mr. Vincent Joseph Old

Date of birth 04/22/1927
Date of passing 07/08/2025

In loving memory~
April 22, 1927 – July 8, 2025
Vincent Old passed away in the care of family at his home on July 8, 2025, at the age of 98. Born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Joseph and Anna Old (Vicchiarelli), he lived a life of service, devotion, and quiet strength, a legacy woven into the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Vincent grew up in a quaint home on top of a hillside in Fairmont. As a young man, he served honorably as a Navy Seabee in World War II, embarking from San Diego to the war-torn shores of the Philippines, China, and Japan, building the infrastructure that supported Allied operations.
Having developed skills and a broad world view in the Navy, Vincent moved on to Detroit during its boom years to build work. There he met his wife. They had their Italian heritage in common, fell in love, and married in 1949. Vincent entered a distinguished career with NCR Corporation, where he received extensive training in electronics. First as a technician, and then a manager, Vincent served many of Detroit’s prominent banks with integrity and skill for over 42 years. He saw the evolution from mechanical cash registers to digital systems. His work reflected not only mastery, but a deep sense of responsibility to his clients, staff, and community.
In retirement, Vincent remained fiercely ambitious and adventurous. He was a man of many varied interests, in earlier years playing music, golf, choir singing, boating, water skiing, camping, traveling, and later building and flying radio-controlled aircraft. But Vincent was, above all, a family man. His greatest source of comfort and pride was the family that he and his wife built – his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vincent never spent a moment of his life without his family either in tow or on top of mind.
Vincent Joseph Old is the beloved husband of Amelia (Millie) Old, dearest father of Dianna (Peter); Joseph (Beth); Patricia (Rich); Donna (Matt); and Judy (Jeff). Cherished grandfather of Rachel (Ben); Tricia; Kellan (Jenni); Joshua (Val); Bryan; Jessica (Jeremiah); and Anna. Caring great-grandfather to Nora, Joe, Eli, Landon, Harper, Adalynn, and Ryder; & loving brother of Joanna (Old) Mazur.
Vincent will be remembered by those closest to him not only for his vast skills, keen mind, and enormous talent, but for his playfulness, his open heart, his unwavering commitment, and his unconditional love.
