Mr. Vernon L. Daniels

KOSSUTH — Vernon L. Daniels, 94, of Kossuth, passed away Saturday , December 18, 2021 at his residence.

He was born October 23, 1927 in Spencerville, a son of the late Howard and Sylvia Mae Wycuff Daniels. On March 29, 1947 he married Joan Harner, who died April 23, 2015.

Surviving are his three children; Cheri (Keith) Savidge of Spencerville, Mary Jane Grigsby of Leadhill, AR. and Steve (Twyla Nuttle) Daniels of Spencerville; 5 grandchildren, Todd Savidge of Spencerville, Brian (Karen) Savidge of Elida, Michael Grigsby of Spencerville, Christina Grigsby of AK. and Josie Daniels of Spencerville; 8 great grandchildren, Devon (Dalton) Hurst of Spencerville, Calvin Grigsby of Delphos, Kaisha, Jamarie & Marque Grigsby, all of AR., Jazzy Bryant and Maylia Gannon, both of AR., Jaydon Grigsby of Spencerville; 6 great great grandchildren, Paityne, Bailee and Colton Stockland, Suniyah and Sumoni Grigsby and Dallas Hurst and his sister, Betty (Ron) Gaskill of Spencerville.

Vern attended the Buckland Schools and then joined the U.S. Navy Seabee’s in the WW II effort to save our freedom. Later he worked many years at the former Stinebaugh Construction Company in Wapakoneta as a carpenter. In 1974 he became self employed and semi-retired in 1991.

Private family funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Tom Shobe officiating. The Navy Honor Guard and the Spencerville Veterans will conduct military rites at the funeral home and burial will follow in the Kossuth Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.
