Vaughn W. Thomas, age 88, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Country Court Nursing Home.
He was born on December 26, 1931 in Lower Salem, Ohio to the late Oscar and Hilma (Theiss) Thomas. Vaughn was employed at The Ohio State University in Medical Repair for over 31 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ and was a veteran serving in the United States Navy Seabees during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, of over 59 years, Alice (Norris) Thomas; his son Mark (Heather) Thomas; his daughters, Vicki (Frank) Cowans, Lisa (Russ) Hughes; six grandchildren, Nick (Maurisa) Hughes, Hanna Hughes, Maliry Hughes, Megan Thomas, Alayna Thomas, Travis Thomas; his brothers Vernon (Shirley) Thomas, John Thomas; and his sisters, Mary Skoglund and Dorothy Hesson.
Friends may call on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 2-4PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 1PM, in Salem Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Knox County Fish and Game, Country Court Skilled Nursing Center – Activities Department, or to Honor Flight Columbus.
