Date of passing 02/22/2025

Tracy (T.J.) James Davis, 77, of Evansdale, Iowa died peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Waverly Health Care Center, with his daughter Jody faithfully by his side.

A graveside funeral service will be held at the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Twin Lakes, MN on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

Tracy James Davis was born on March 12, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of James Warner Davis, and Rachel (Enabnit) Davis. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1965 and swiftly entered the military after a year at NIACC, to “see the world”. Upon entering the US Navy, he quickly got his wish when he entered active duty in Vietnam. The construction talents he obtained from “Grandpa Jim” were put to good use as a Seabee petty officer. He spent a year overseas in the Da Nang and Chu Lai regions of Vietnam proclaiming it to be such a beautiful country despite witnessing the atrocities of war.

Upon his return to the US, Tracy spent many years working with his father in the construction business. Davis-Keith Construction built many businesses, homes, as well as a few churches in the Clear Lake area.

After retiring from the construction business, in the late 70’s, Tracy moved to the Rochester Minnesota area. He became an Army Recruiter and thus became a veteran of both the Navy and Army. In his free time, he spent many days pursuing his passion for the great outdoors. Minnesota afforded him an ample opportunity to enjoy his favorite sport of hunting. He also liked fishing with his son, Jason. Together they enjoyed catching trout at Whitewater State Park.

Tracy held a genuine respect for all animals, nature and wildlife. He was especially devoted to his dogs who would frequently accompany him during his many hunting excursions. He also looked forward to watching the AKC dog show and the Kentucky Derby; a race he once saw in person with Jason in 2009. Tracy was a continual supporter of numerous animal charities.

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rachel Davis. Left to cherish in his memory are his 3 children; Jason (Amy) Davis of Robins, Iowa, Jody (Davis) Anderson, of Marion, Iowa, Glory Miranda of Kansas City, Missouri; and 5 grandchildren: Nathanial, Spencer, Seth, Samuel and Myah.

Tracy relied heavily on his strong Catholic faith throughout life. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and the many charities he supported.
