Thomas “The Doctor” Rinehart
April 18, 1962 – February 28, 2025
Thomas “The Doctor” Rinehart, a Navy veteran, master mechanic, and pyrotechnic with a passion for innovation, passed away on February 28, 2025. Born on April 18, 1962, in San Francisco, Thomas lived throughout California, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship, creativity, and a love for all things mechanical.
A proud U.S. Navy Seabee, Thomas served his country with dedication, embodying the Seabee motto: “We Build, We Fight.” His time in the Navy shaped his strong work ethic and problem-solving skills, traits that carried through his life’s work.
Thomas was a brilliant mind, known for his expertise in master mechanics and Hollywood special effects. He had an uncanny ability to tinker with anything and everything, never meeting a machine he couldn’t fix or improve. His love for the outdoors and his hands-on approach to life defined him, making him a man who truly lived by his own design.
He is survived by his father, Thomas Gray Rinehart; his children, Mike Rinehart and wife Gigi, Thomas Rinehart and wife Sarah, Brittany Killion and husband Steven, Jesse Rinehart, and Zach Rinehart and wife Rita. He also leaves behind multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his spirit of curiosity, ingenuity, and adventure.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. His family finds comfort in the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and the many creations he left behind.
