Thomas Michael Cesnick, 75, of Midland, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born Oct. 25, 1945, in Midland, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Fair) Cesnick.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Cornelia “Toni” Ann Doolan; in-laws, Phyllis and Carl Deal; brothers-in-law, Kenneth L. McKenzie and Timothy Doolan; sister-in-law, Sarah Cesnick; and nephew, John C. Knippenberg.
Thomas served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam War and served with the Sea Bees.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church in Midland, serving as an altar boy in his youth.
Thomas had worked at Westvaco as an operating engineer and retired from the CSX Railroad.
He loved trains both model and locomotives.
It was said, he loved, “Trains, planes, and automobiles.”
Thomas was on several pool teams throughout the years.
He also belonged to Midland Volunteer Fire Company, Midland Sportsman Club, and the NRA.
Thomas loved fixing automobiles and tinkering in his basement.
One of his passions was cuckoo clocks, and he enjoyed repairing them.
After retirement, you could find Thomas with his “Coffee Crew” at McDonalds.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie (Deal) Cesnick; children, Joan E. Cesnick, Thomas “Andy” Cesnick, Teresa M. Cesnick; and granddaughter, whom he loved dearly and called her his “Little Sweetsy”, Catherine (Ellie) Filer; brother, Eugene A. Cesnick Sr.; and sister, Agnes Louise McKenzie.
Memorial services will be at Sowers Funeral Home Friday, June 25, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Father Hendricks officiating.
Inurnment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Midland.
