Mr. Stephen J. Propatier

Stephen J. Propatier, 82, a lifelong resident of Seekonk, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of his high school sweetheart, Gloria (Jarvis) Propatier, to whom he was married 59 years.

Born in Seekonk, he was the son of the late Louis Propatier, Sr. and Anna (Duell) Propatier – McAuliffe. Mr. Propatier was the principal of the East Providence Career and Technical School before he retired. Prior to that position, he was a teacher and then became assistant principal of the West Bay Vocational School in Coventry. He received his Master’s Degree from Rhode Island College in 1975.

He was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, was a member of the choir and a CCD teacher. He was a member and former President of the East Providence/Seekonk Rotary Club. Mr. Propatier was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Seabee’s.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Stephen L. Propatier and Andrew J. Propatier and his wife Lisa, one grandson, Nicholas L. Propatier, one sister, Elizabeth Marsland, one brother, Robert Propatier and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis Propatier, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk.
