FINK- Stephen A. 1/27/1943-1/18/2021. “Steve” as he was better known, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the early afternoon of January 18th at the age of 77, just nine days before his 78th birthday. Steve was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Maurice and Doris, but he grew up in various parts of New York and Long Island. He graduated from Syosset High School in 1960. Steve attended several colleges, stressing that the education itself – not the grades or the degrees – was what was most important to him. During the draft of the Vietnam War, Steve voluntarily enlisted in the Navy, his reasoning being that if he signed up it would save one other boy from being taken from his family. He proudly served in the Seabees and was honorably discharged. Steve worked in the HVAC industry most of his life, beginning at a very young age beside his father and eventually starting his own company of S.A. Fink Associates. Steve loved and played several sports but had a special fondness for soccer, having been a coach, player, and team manager. Illness forced him to retire from play at the age of 75. He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Margaret, and their four children; Debra, Sean, Laurie, and Kerry, as well as three sons-in-law; Keith, Edward, and Marc, and four granddaughters; Kaelin, Megan, Erin, and Alexis. Steve was a beloved father, grand-father, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all.
