MANISTIQUE – Scott William Hardy, 55, of Manistique, Mich., passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. Scott was the son of James and Kathleen (Peterson) Hardy, husband of Julie (Miotke) Hardy, father of Brittany (Kurt) Weirich of Negaunee, Mich.; Ashleigh (Remington) Box of Crystal Falls, Mich.; Nolan (Kylee Weber) Armock of Manistique; Nathan Armock of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Emma Hardy; brother of James M. (Sharon) Hardy of Eagle River, Alaska, and Henry (Patty) Hardy of Cooks, Mich.; brother-in-law to Brian (Chelsey) Miotke of Pickford, Mich.; Melissa (Paul) Weber of Manistique; Adam(Jennifer Maddox) Tardif of Gould City, Mich.; Valerie Medlin of Gulliver, Mich.; son-in-law to Matthew and Brenda Miotke of Gulliver; and loving grandfather to, Benjamin Weirich, Aiden Weirich, and Dominic Hardy. Scott is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Aveia Box, Xander Box, and Kimber Burnis, in addition to his numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Denise Hardy, and many other loving family members.
Scott was a resident of Cooks, Mich., where, from infancy he spent most of his life. Scott enlisted in the US Navy, after graduating from Big Bay de Noc, where he served with great pride as a SeaBee for eight years. After his enlistment ended, he returned to Cooks, a community he dearly loved.
He was employed at the Limestone Quarry at Port Inland in Gulliver for 27 years. In 2021 with his wife Julie, opened a campground on Indian Lake where his mechanical skills were handy but his love of people even more so. Scott was a Lions fan in cheesehead territory but always stood by his team. He loved to hunt and fish and was a skilled chef in preparing what he harvested. Scott was generous with his time. He was a member of the Inwood Township Volunteer Fire Department and worked each year on their corn roast and always helped every group who asked him. He was always a family first person and most of all loved the role of grandpa or “Papa Scott.” Scott will be remembered for his bright smile, unique laugh, and generous spirit.
A visitation will be held for Scott at Fausett Family Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19, beginning at 4 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Inwood Township Cemetery with a luncheon to follow afterwards at the Inwood Township Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s honor may be sent to the family for future designation. Fausett Family Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
