Mr. Sarkis “Sam” C. Garabedian

Salem, NH – Sarkis “Sam” C. Garabedian, 92 and a lifelong resident of Salem, NH passed away at his home with his family at his side on Sunday, September 6, 2020.
He was born in Salem, NH on April 19, 1928 the son of the late, Charles and Mary (Chakalian) Garabedian. He was raised and educated in Salem, NH and graduated from Woodbury High School. He attended Northeastern University as well as several electrical and electronic schools. Sam was a Licensed Master Electrician. He retired from Honeywell Building Services Division after 30 years of service in multi field and sales positions. After his retirement from Honeywell he became self-employed. He owned and operated SG Services, designing and installing fire alarms and temperature control systems.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 – 1954. He served aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Saipan. He was a member of MCB #6 of the Seabee’s. He served in Newfoundland, Cuba and French Morocco. He was a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed spending many Winters in Dover, Fla. with his wife, Ann. He also enjoyed gardening and camping.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Ann (Callahan) on April 19th of this year. He is survived by his six sons, Martin Garabedian and wife, Barbara, David Garabedian and wife, Kendra, Steven Garabedian, John Garabedian and wife, Andrea, William Garabedian and wife, Saryna and Brian Garabedian and husband, Paul Schlott. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as four nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, September 14, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Ararat Armenian Congregational Church, 2 Salem Street, Salem, NH 03079. COVID-19 Protocols will be in place. Guests must be wearing a mask and maintain social distancing. Burial with U.S. Navy Honors will follow the service in Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.
