Rosario (Russ) John DeNaro passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2023, with family at his bedside, at “Harborside at Melbourne” while in the care of Vitas Hospice at the age of 90.
Russ was born in Madison, NJ in 1933, the son of Salvatore and Angelina DeNaro. He married Marie DeNaro in 1956 and lived in Chatham, NJ before moving to West Melbourne, FL in 1980. They were married for 65 years. Russ was predeceased by wife Marie DeNaro in July 2021, and brother John DeNaro of Toms River, NJ.
He is survived by daughters Cindy Whitmore of West Melbourne, FL and Rose Marie Wallace of Garden Ridge, TX, and her husband Michael, grandchildren Christopher Whitmore and wife Lisa, Brandon Whitmore of Melbourne, FL, Ellen Wallace of Converse, TX., her great-grandson Connor Whitmore of Melbourne, FL.
Russ served our country in the US Navy from 1952-1956. He continued his love for this country and reenlisted in the Naval Reserves in the SeaBees. He served as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, in Chatham, NJ and Third and Forth degree Knight in Melbourne, FL. Prior to retirement in 1995, he was employed with Harris as a Circuit Designer. After retirement, Russ spent time on his hobbies as well as volunteered at Holmes Cancer Center Library. Russ was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and, great-grandfather. He always enjoyed being around his family and friends, and never greeted them without a smile and hug. He enjoyed many sports, including bowling, golf, and baseball. His hobbies included wood working, photography and volunteering for charitable causes.
Russ will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, and his comical attitude and kind nature.
A Mass, proceeded by a Vigil will be held on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1710 Hickory Street, Melbourne. A graveside service will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 1422 Miller St., Palm Bay.
