Ronnie William Davis, 72, of Marietta, Ohio, died Sunday, July 14, 2019. He was born on July 17, 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio to George William and Virginia Dakota May Davis.

Ronnie was a 1965 graduate of Marietta High School. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam from 1967-1969 as a Navy Seabee, serving many different roles and receiving numerous medals. Upon return, Ronnie as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 2000.

Ronnie was a life member of VFW Post 5108 and served at the local, district and state levels in the VFW. On November 1, 2018, he was one of the first 11 veterans to be inducted in the Washington County Veterans Hall of Fame. Ronnie was also a life member of VFW National Home for Children, American Legion Post 750, Life Member DAV Chapter 52, F&AM Harmar Lodge 390, AMVETS Post 1788, VFW District 5 Motorcycle Group, Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 86 and life member of the Marine Corps League Detachment #1436.

He is survived by his two children, Jeff Davis (Becky) and Doreen Davis; five grandchildren, Garrett, Jayna and Weston Davis, Diana Lightfritz and Alec Davis; great grandson, Benjamin; longtime companion, Wilda Horton; former wife, Florence Davis; sister in law, Doreen Grasley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Samuel Davis; and sister, Diana Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, with Mayor Joe Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, with full military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
