He was born on December 18, 1934, in Davenport, IA, the son of Homer and Evelyn (Kaufman) Pratt. Ronald married Mary J. Schultz on July 5, 1956, in Davenport, IA. She preceded him in death, on September 21, 2016.
Ronald graduated from Rock Island High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee who was a lead electrician in Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica in 1956. Ronald went on to work as a serviceman for Pitney Bowes. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League/ARRL. Ronald was an amateur ham radio operator who also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing the piano, model trains, composing music, playing slot machine, and playing pool.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Susan T. Pratt-Roth of Springfield; son, Michael V. (Jackie) Pratt of Springfield; grandchildren, Hayley, Cameron, and Brayden Pratt: and his rescue dog Dixie; also, his extended family: Vicki, Ed, Tabitha, Shane, Ray and Donovan Kennedy and Sherri Layendecker
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to/following private family services.
Memorial gathering for Ronald will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 9:30 -10:15 A.M. at Boardman Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
