Final Salute

Ronald J. Jones, 65, of Troy passed away on May 5, 2026 after a long illness.

Born in Troy on February 11, 1961 he is the son of the late Irving and Marjorie (Murray) Jones.

Ron is survived by his children Courtney (Joe) Gabriele of Saratoga Springs and Nicholas Jones of Albany. His siblings Richard (Judy) Jones of Granby, CT and Kathryn (David) Bornt of Brunswick. Ron is also survived by his nieces Katie, Cindy and Meaghan and his nephew Tyler.

Ron was a 1979 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. He then enlisted and served some time in the U.S Navy Seabees, stationed in Gulfport, MS. In 1989, Ron began his 32 year career as a NYS Correction Officer at Coxsackie Correctional Facility, retiring 5 years ago and moving back to his hometown of Troy.

Ron was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed kayaking, the Jersey shore, sitting outside “working on his tan”, and in his younger years hiking the Adirondacks working as a guide with Killington Adventure Resort.

Ron will be dearly missed by all whose life he touched. He truly had a heart of gold.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday May 12, 2026 from 10 am to 12 noon at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 – 109th Street, Troy, NY 12182, with a 12-noon service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot of the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
