Ronald Dean Durr of Springfield, MO was 86 years of age when he entered into his eternal reward. Ron was born to Van and Velma Durr on January 30, 1937 in Boise City, OK and departed this Earth on April 28, 2023 peacefully at home. He has now moved to his Heavenly home where he is spending eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with many friends and family! He was the oldest of ten siblings, four brothers and five sisters. Ron gave his life to Jesus at the tender age of eight in a small church in Oklahoma. He was a Navy Seabee from 1956 to 1960. After training in Maryland, he traveled to Japan and Okinawa and was stationed in Hawaii, Alaska, and California. During his time in the Navy, Ron married the love of his life, Frances, and was married for 64 short years. After his time in the Navy, he settled into a life of construction in Springfield, MO. Ron was an extraordinary story teller who knew how to keep his listeners’ attention. He loved helping people and would literally give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Ron loved his family and friends and would do anything for them.
Ron was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Dean, Jr., his parents, Van and Velma, three sisters, Christine (Tom), Patricia and Juanita (Jerry) and three brothers, Timmy (Carol Jo), Cecil (Sauny) and Bob (Nancy). Ron is survived by his wife, Frances Krawitz Durr, daughter Melissa Durr Harmon of Springfield, two sons, Don Allen Durr (Judith) of Dunedin, FL and Dean Edward Durr (Brenda) of Nixa, one brother, Allen Durr (Doris), and two sisters, Marjorie Carleton (Marvin) and Rosalene Martin (Charles) all of Springfield, as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Battlefield Assembly of God, 5154 W. Bypass, Battlefield, MO on Thursday, 05/04/2023 from 6-8 p.m.
A graveside service will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Dr., Springfield, MO on Wednesday, 05/10/2023 at 10 a.m. with Navy Military Honors.
