Final Salute

Ronald Bosworth Jackson affectionally called “RJ, Papa Jack, Pops” passed away September 25, 2021 at the age of 86.
After several months of declining health, Ron died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours.

Born in Beverly Massachusetts, Ron was the son of late Whitney & Alma Jackson (A Gold Star Mother) after Ron’s eldest brother Jack Jackson lost his life while servicing in the United States Navy. He is survived by Joyce E. Jackson the loving devoted Mother of their three sons Mark, Michael, Glenn, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ron attended Beverly High School where he was known & loved for his highly charismatic personality. While showing that he was a highly gifted high school athlete lettering in both varsity baseball and basketball for 4 years. If that was not enough, Ron was also an avid open water swimmer and a multiple winner of the prestigious Austin Center Mile in Massachusetts.

Upon graduating from Beverly High School, Ron was accepted to Northeastern University on a swimming scholarship. After 18 months into his collegiate career at the University, Ron had a different calling and would follow his brother Jack’s footsteps and enlist into the United States Navy joining the Elite Navy construction battalion-better known as the Seabees during the Korean war uprising. Ron obtained the rank of SN/E-3 Seaman and was also awarded metals of Achievement, Accommodation, and the National Defense Service Medals.

After being Honorably discharged from the United States Navy in November 1961, Ron would embark on a successful career in the Automotive Industry. Ron’s career eventually brought him to Rhode Island. As Ron was raising his family in the community of Cranston “Edgewood” area, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St Paul’s chapter, and played a pivotal role in the leadership and management for Cranston youth sports, athletic activities, and events. Ron, coached in both Edgewood South Elmwood little league and Edgewood Eagle Football. Ron was also one of the founding fathers of the Edgewood Eagles Senior League Division which still thrives today. While still juggling both his personal life, his career, and giving back to the community which he became to love, he still made the time to achieve and accomplish his Bachelor of Science in business administration from Johnson & Wales University, Providence Rhode Island.

Ron resided in Cranston “Edgewood” for 50 years.

A private Memorial & Military service will be held at a later date.
