Final Salute

Roger is the loving husband to Gloria Mitchell for over 50 years; cherished father to Annette (Mark) Dust; stepfather to Jimmy (Laura) Fox and David Fox; very proud Papa to Amanda and Ty Dust, Katie, Luke and Kyle Fox; great-grandfather to Jaiden and Romeo Garcia; fond brother to Chuck (Maureen), Connie, and the late Diane; uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Roger honorably served as a Seabee in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Local #150 Operators Union for 10 years. He retired from Solo Cup in Chicago in maintenance of the slitting department after 20 years of faithful service. He was a past member of AMVETS in Whiting, VFW in Dyer and the Moose Lodge in Whiting. He was a loving and devoted husband, adoring father, and lovingly embraced grandfatherhood. Dedicated to the water, he taught his grandchildren how to swim and respect the water. He enjoyed spending time at his daughter’s family property, tending to the various animals, especially his pet pig, Newman. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 1:00 pm until the time of his funeral at 4:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
