Roger Buddy Coffman, 86, of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He is now fully healed in Heaven, rejoicing in the presence of his Savior.
Born in Lebanon, Ohio on September 16, 1938, Roger was the son of Shelby and Iona Coffman. He graduated from Lebanon High School, where he was a letterman on the varsity football team and met the love of his life, Marcella, who was a cheerleader. After high school, he proudly served his country as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy, traveling to places such as Guam and Alaska. While serving in the Navy, Roger married the love of his life, Marcella, in 1959. Following his naval service, Roger earned his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and went on to have a fulfilling career as a senior manufacturing design engineer at Senco Products, retiring in 2000.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for adventure. He had a passion for snow skiing and dedicated 35 years as an active member of the National Ski Patrol, retiring as a crew chief leader from Perfect North Slopes in 2019. He and Marcella also enjoyed sailing, fishing, traveling, and cycling, including completing a 100 mile bike ride together at the age of 80 years young. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Roger was a gifted artist with a remarkable talent for drawing and painting. His artwork was recognized in local competitions and proudly displayed in places such as the VA Hospital in Cincinnati, where he received care over the years.
Above all, Roger’s greatest joy in life was being a grandfather. His grandsons, Bradley and Nathan, were his whole world, and he embraced every moment he could spend with them. He took pride in teaching them life’s great adventures, patiently showing them how to snow ski, ride a bike, and even drive his beloved stick-shift Miata. He was their biggest supporter, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines, as they played football and lacrosse. His love for them was immeasurable, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
A man of deep faith and devoted follower of Christ, Roger was an active church member throughout his life. He served in several outreach ministries at Grace Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio and was most recently a member of Carpenter’s House Baptist Church in . Germantown, Ohio. His love for God was evident, especially as he faced difficult health challenges with unwavering faith, bravery, and trust in the Lord. His steadfast belief was a powerful testimony and inspiration to all who knew him.

Roger’s adventurous spirit, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his family will be deeply missed. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion lives on in the hearts of those he touched. Though our hearts grieve, we find peace in the promise of Heaven, knowing that this is not goodbye, but only a temporary parting. One day, we will be reunited in the presence of our Lord, where there is no more pain, only joy everlasting.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 11am until 1pm with the celebration of life service immediately following, at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon.
