Portland – Portland – Robert T. Gallant (1943-2025) Bob died peacefully on June 19, 2025 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with his wife Patricia by his side. Bobby grew up in Haverhill, son of Mary Catherine (Lynn) and Albin Gallant, graduating from Haverhill High School in 1961. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1964, he served proudly and honorably as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War. He loved to say, “I was almost a Marine, you know”. He married the love of his life, Patricia on April 23, 1972. Bobby loved baseball, watching the Red Sox, playing as a young man and eventually playing softball in the men’s league for Lebro’s Cafe. Bob had an incredible work ethic, retiring from the town of Andover in 2005 after 20 years of service. He continued to work “part-time” in several positions, including landscaping at “Old Marsh”, where he enjoyed chatting with all of the golfers.
He was an active participant in the Catholic Church, volunteering at St. John the Baptist Church in Haverhill and then being a contributor to the community of St. Mary’s Parish and the Knights of Columbus in Wells upon moving to Maine. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, talking sports and telling jokes. Staying connected and making people laugh was so important to him, and for the past 6 years Bob fought hard to stay as active in his circles as possible, He is predeceased by both of his parents, his beloved sister Judith “Hubba” Kelleher and her husband Ray. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia “Patty Ann” Gallant. His daughter Christine Fredette and her husband Alex. His son Peter Gallant and his wife Hallie.
Grandson, Nicholas Caputo. Brother Richard Gallant and his wife Linda. Sister Jane Welch and her husband Marty. Sister Mary Beth DiPinto and her husband Ralph. Nephew Jefferson Welch and his wife Chalsee and their children. Niece Mandi Paulsen and her husband, Chris and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
