Robert (Bob) James McKay, 77 of Belgrade Montana, was called Home by the Lord on December 28, 2022.
Bob was born in Billings, MT to Perry and Margaret McKay on July 20, 1945. After Bob graduated from Billings West High School he went on to run track for the University of Montana. All who love Bob know that he was always a vibrant and dedicated GRiZ Fan!
The summer before Bob’s senior year in college he felt compelled to defend his Country and he enlisted into the Navy in June 1967. He served courageously as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam war. Bob was whole heartedly a true patriot ready and willing to stand for his Country no matter what the cost!
Bob went on to start his own construction business and was a successful general contractor for over 30 years. Bob also pursued his interest in the mining industry as a recognized and respected mining consultant.
Bob’s strong character and leadership also extended to his community and church. His huge heart of service propelled him to lead as Board of Director on multiple school boards, multiple Christian Ministries and he also served as an honored deacon for several years.
Bob’s family meant the world to him! Bob and Cyndi have exemplified a deep and completely devoted love. They were inseparable and fully committed to each other and to Jesus Christ. Bob had such a beautiful father’s heart and he always wanted the very best for each of his children. Oh how he loved each one fiercely!
Bob’s greatest passion and love was with his Lord and Savior, Jesus! Bob lived out such a beautiful intimacy in his relationship with the Lord, continually following the Lord’s Heart and Love for everyone around him. Bob lived his life always loving, and encouraging others with such generosity, integrity and sincerity. He was fully revealing the Father’s Heart!
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Joan McKay and Bill McKay.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, his wife Cynthia (Cyndi) McKay; his children, Craig McKay, Mike (Alison) McKay, Britney (Aaron) Straub, and Morgan McKay. He has fourteen cherished grandchildren including: Bailey (Samuel) Fraley, Devan, Brooklyn, Tate, Buddy, Emmett, Quincy, Fisher, Emma, Holland, Merrick, Mercy McKay; Leo and Roman Straub. His sisters include Susie Lilley, and twin Roberta Gray, and he would include Sonya Merriman. Bob was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephew, along with many cousins.
Bob’s internment will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Yellowstone National Cemetery with military honors. Bob’s celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at River Church in Bozeman Montana with refreshments afterword.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are for all the love, prayers, and support from our family, and also from our church family, River Church, and all our dear friends!
