Robert Dewayne Clay, age 74, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Choctaw Nation Hospital in Talihina, Oklahoma. He was born December 29, 1947, in De Queen, Arkansas to Paul Clay and Joy (Teel) Clay.
Robert served his country in the United States Navy in Okinawa during Vietnam War and was a Seabee. After he finished his duty to his country he went to work. He was a welder, a builder, and owner-operator of a logging operation before settling in as a millwright with the Weyerhaeuser Mill in Valliant, Oklahoma for many years until his retirement. He was a man of high character and integrity. And he had faith that most men only dream of. He believed in the Lord with all his heart. He attended the First Assembly of God in Broken Bow, Oklahoma where he was part of the Security Team. He loved his family and loved the Lord. to take his grandsons on hunting trips to Colorado and the granddaughters camping at Cedar Lake. Robert took great pride in being a good provider to his family, he was a saver that was still saving for retirement even though he had been retired for many years. He adored his beautiful wife and sweetheart of 54 years and there wasn’t a time he would leave a room that he didn’t give her kisses. Robert was a loving and doting husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donita Clay of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; son and daughter in law, Mike and Lori Clay of Ada, Oklahoma; one daughter and son in law, Melissa and Chuck Wilson of McAlester, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Logan and Nick Reed of McAlister, Oklahoma, Channing and Jodi Clay of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Hunter and Jaye Needham of Kiowa, Oklahoma, Josh Wilson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Heidi Clay of Ada, Oklahoma, Finley Clay of Ada, Oklahoma, and; seven great-grandchildren, Evan Axton of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Kimber Clay of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Jaxen Needham of Kiowa, Oklahoma; Piper Dilbeck of McAlester, Oklahoma, Hazen Needham of Kiowa, Oklahoma, Juniper Dilbeck of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Legend Reed of McAlester, Oklahoma; one sister Kathy and Cary Tyree of Sapulpa, Oklahoma as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Brother Steve Daniel and Pastor Kenny Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in the Watson Memorial Cemetery in Broken Bow, Oklahoma under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. General visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 2-5 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Michael Clay, Chuck Wilson, Channing Clay, Hunter Needham, Nick Reed, Cary Tyree, Chad Tuttle and Duane Bean.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Johnson, Donald Sharrock, Larry Stow, Kevin Bryant, Troy McCaig, Dan Malone, Les Bray and Mike Hibbs.
Flagbearers will be Jaxen Needham, Evan Axton, Finley Clay and Legend Reed.
