VanSlooten, Robert Dale “Bob” went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 86 years of age. He was born to Harold and Clarice (Harkes) VanSlooten on May 18, 1936. He was a very proud member of the Harkes family. He is survived by a sister, Patricia (Larry) Johnson of Kentwood and brother, Philip (Trudy) VanSlooten of Burr Ridge, IL. He was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, donating his time to numerous church and Christian school building projects. As a SeaBee, he served in the U.S. Navy with his friend, Jim Morren. He took great pride in his work and business, Bob VanSlooten Tile and Flooring. His greatest joy was participating in his grandkids’ lives. He was a faithful husband and provider to his wife of 60 years, Sue Ann (DeGood) VanSlooten and was always so proud of his daughters, Alison (Keith) VanderHeide of Middleville and Charise (Jim) Bos of Byron Center. He strongly encouraged all of his grandchildren to go to college and loved everything each one achieved, Tyler VanderHeide (25), Levi VanderHeide (20), Hope VanderHeide (18), Jerad Bos (21) and his fiancee, Mahri Younger, Reese Bos (20), Sam Bos (18). Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, March 10 at Ideal Park Christian Reformed Church, 320 56th St. SW, Wyoming with Rev. Chris Bouma officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-7:30 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood and on Friday from 10-11 am at church prior to the service.
