Mr. Robert Cleveland Fogleman

Robert Cleveland Fogleman 82, of Burlington, peacefully departed on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, after a short stay at Hospice Home of Burlington. He was the husband of Karen Marie Dixon Fogleman for 33 years who survives. He was the son of the late Walter Lindsay and Mildred Cathleen Miller Fogleman.

This truly unique man served in the Navy and traveled the world as an electrician with the SEABEES, and honored their motto “Construimus, Batuimus”, “We Build, We Fight” for his entire life. His service took him “as far east as Sicily, as far west as Japan, as far north as Greenland, as far south as McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Casablanca, Morocco, Northern Africa, and the Azores a Providence of Portugal” as he worked on presidential retreats, classified projects, and military bases. Having learned the shooting sports from his grandfather-Birdie Fogleman, he later earned medals for Expert Rifleman and Expert Pistol Shot. He continued to compete and instruct after his service with the Navy. He was an avid ballroom dancer who won competitions alongside his wife Karen. He exceled at most everything he put his hand to and owned Fogleman Signs and Service until his retirement. Robert was a member of Ireland Street Chapel.

Robert is survived by his wife of the home Karen Marie Dixon Fogleman, her 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Renee Dixon Lambe and husband Dwayne of Snow Camp, Heidi Dixon Fisher and husband Joseph of Santa Cruz, CA., Wesley Dixon and wife Zoey of Wilmington, NC and Sean Dixon and wife Elizabeth of Hilton Head, SC and several nieces and nephews.

Robert is also survived by his first wife Nancy Carolyn Walker Fogleman, their 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Robin Fogleman Ferguson and husband Mickey of Graham, NC, Mark Fogleman and wife Jill of Swepsonville, NC and Richard Fogleman and wife Cari of Pittsboro, NC and his brother, Dan Fogleman and wife Janice of Graham.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Lee Callicutt. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow the service at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors by the US Navy.
