Robert B. Bombard, 91, of Morrisonville, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the UVHN:CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13th, 1933, the son of Bernard Bombard and Eileen (McGivney) Bombard.
Bob graduated from Plattsburgh High School where he played football and ran track. After high school he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Seabee during the Korean War. During his service as a Seabee he picked up the masonry trade. After the service he came home and attended college under the GI Bill and earned a degree in construction. In 1955 he started a career in corrections at Clinton Correctional Facility, working there for 37 years retiring in 1992, all while working the masonry trade on the side.
Bob was a proud veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Seabees.
Bob had a life long passion for deer hunting and fishing, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. You’d often find 3 or 4 generations of Bombard men in the woods or on the ponds together. Bob loved attending his grandkids sporting events and he and his wife almost never missed a game. He even was able to enjoy watching his great grandson Wyatt playing baseball, basketball, and football.
Bob never had to speak the words “I love you”, his actions and nicknames always showed those closest to him how much he loved them. Bob was extremely proud and supportive of his family. If Bob wasn’t telling you a story about hunting, he was telling you a story about his kids or grandkids.
He is survived by his children, Keith Bombard and his wife, Jocelyn, Lee Bombard; grandchildren, Lindsay Jornod and her husband, Nate, Seth Bombard and his wife, Shanna and Simon Bombard and his wife, Erin; great grandchildren; Molly, Wyatt, Emerson, Logan and Hadley.
He is predeceased by his parents and his wife of 65 years, Janet Bombard.
Private Services will be held with his family and community at Victory Place.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeny.com
