Robert A. Pintar, 96, passed away on January 9th, 2021. He was born August, 21, 1924 in Cleveland to Albert and Mary (Rant) Pintar. In World War II, he served in the Navy as a Seabee and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during a torpedo attack during D-Day. While injured and in the ocean, he rescued fellow service members. Continued bombing resulted in additional injuries, thus earning a second Purple Heart. He also served in the Pacific Front on the Island of Okinawa preparing for the U.S. invasion. In all aspects of his life, he demonstrated an incredibly strong work ethic, determination, generosity, and creativity. He left a legacy of many accomplishments, with the most valuable being how to live with integrity.Robert was a business owner of Pintar Plumbing for over 60 years. As a resident of Wickliffe, he raised 4 children with a love for nature and amazing adventures, providing lifelong memories. He also volunteered as a youth football and baseball coach in Wickliffe, Ohio as well as serving as a leader with Boy Scout Troop 289 and Scout Master for Explorer Post 289, leading many young individuals on memorable outdoor adventures. He was happiest working, volunteering, coaching, helping others, and he truly loved the great outdoors. As a community advocate, he was involved in the designing and building of the Wickliffe High School football field and was inducted into the Wickliffe Hall of Fame for these volunteer efforts.Survivors are his son, David (Kristi) Pintar, daughters, Deborah (Mark) Dorcik, Denise Salgado and Darlene Pintar; Grandchildren, Spencer Dorcik, Hannah (Zach) Penhollow, Alexander Dorcik, and Nathan Pintar; Great Grandchildren, Declan and Tate Penhollow; and Robert’s sister Mary (Pintar) Potoczak.Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann (Eville) Pintar; brothers, Albert, William, and Ivan Pintar.Robert was a war hero and will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with Military Honors.
