Ricky R. King, 77 of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 21 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born Sept, 18, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa, son of Clifford and Doris Masterhand King. He married Peggy Mae Myers on Nov. 1, 1969 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2021.
Rick graduated from Cedar Falls High School and honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was released from active duty in 1968 and served in Seabees with the Naval Reserves until June of 1971.
He was employed with Midland Concrete Products, retiring in 2018.
Rick enjoyed fishing, working with HO Model Trains, and being with his family. He was also a dedicated member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Kevin (Mary) and Theodore, both of Waterloo and James (Sherry) of Gilbert, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Chris), Kyle, Joe, Shawn, Austin, Regan and Remy; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Liam and Sawyer; a brother, Clifford (Bev) King, Jr. of North Carolina; a sister, Donna (Roger) Faught of Manly, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: his wife, Peggy; his parents; a nephew, Robin Faught; and a great nephew, Channing.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct.26 at Faith Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Public visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, continuing for one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice, the church or family.
